Our programme is based on the theories of Maria Montessori, Erik Erikson, Jean Piaget, Vygotsky and Howard Gardner in child care development and education. At Brightland Kindergarten, we adopted a range of educational materials from United Kingdom, United States, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia.
At Brightland Kindergarten we adopt the national preschool curriculum of Malaysia. Apart from that, we also integrated the curriculum by adopting the Montessori method of education and the emergent curriculum. These curriculums are developmentally appropriate and leading us not only focused on children’s academic but also striving to build on children’s character and their holistic development.
Our developmentally appropriate programme is design to based on children’s interest and developmental level. We always expose children from concrete to abstract, simple to complex learning experiences so that children can acquire knowledge and information better and experience the joy of learning.
Through the programme, children in Brightland will learn through 5 contexts for learning, which underpin in the early years. Research proves that young children must be actively learning through all the senses.
Guided Reading
Our curriculum integrates with three different languages of guided reading (Bahasa Malaysia, English and Mandarin) in Brightland. We provide our young readers with materials and instruction that fit their individual levels of development. We believe that guided reading leads to the independent reading that builds the process; it is the heart of a balanced literacy programmes.
Movement Activities
At Brightland, we incorporating movement as part of the daily tools into our curriculum. We believe that getting our children to get up and move is an important aspect to their learning because it can inspire them to think differently, and instead of having a game think for them, they learn how to think for themselves. We always make sure our children have spacious space to MOVE, RUN, JUMP AND PLAY in our safe and conducive environment. We believe that movement is a door to learning! Our movement activities include, music and movements, braingym, sports, water play, ball play, sand play, messy play, slides, obstacle courses and etc.
Our programme also integrated the curriculum by adopting the Montessori method of education. Children in Brightland learn through sensory-motor activities, working with materials that develop their cognitive powers through direct experience: seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling, touching, and movement.
Events and Cultural celebrations
At Brightland, it is important to undertake cultural celebrations in acknowledging rights and traditions. Our yearly calendar has a variety of monthly events and cultural celebrations which can be acknowledged within our programme and adapted to suit the needs of the children and their families within the service.

Below are the five contexts for learning
Routine and Transistions
Routine such as meal times, relaxation and tidy-up times provide important opportunities for learning (e.g. social skills and oral communication). Transistion games, songs and other activities also provide valuable learning opportunities as children move from one activity/ context to another.
Focused learning and teaching
Focused teaching and learning events often occur during teachable moments within play, real-life situations and investigations. Focused learning and teaching may also occur in small and whole-group s situation s for shorter period s of time. Such focused learning and teaching actively engages children in interacting in people, objects and representations.
Play
Play provides a powerful context in which children learn as they actively engage socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually with people, objects and representations.
Investigation
Investigation involve children in interacting with people, objects and representations. As they inquire, explore relationships and test ideas. The teacher scaffold investigations by posing problems, questioning, modeling, explaining and suggesting alternatives and involve children in decision making.
Real-life situations
Learning through real-life situations enables children to build connections between, home, community, and classroom experiences. (eg. Cooking, gardening, talking with guest speakers and etc.)
